How to know what’s really important.

peggy-heart

Sometimes when we want to make changes in our lives, that realization comes after prolonged periods of not doing what makes us feel alive.  We can get numb that way.  Numb to the things that really, really speak to us. The emotional towel was thrown on the floor years ago.

So, here’s a technique to help you find your way back to yourself.

Think of a time in your life, before you were ten.  Then, think of something you did you were really proud of.

Before you were ten, you weren’t really trying to “achieve” anything.  You were just “doing” you.

It may sound silly, but it works.  This is when the past can be a great informant for your future.

It’s not the focus on what you actually did, but the feelings of pride, the beam in your eyes and the grin on your face that was pure you enjoying being you. I bet you can feel those feelings again without much effort.

What we loved then, we still love now.  What we really love is what’s really important.
